A quite wonderful and very old large horizontal live steam engine for sale. A real antique that when we cleaned her presented the original paintwork that we have tried to preserve for the new owner. She runs slowly and well on air. There is a little bit of wear as you would expect from an engine of this age, in the crank/big end area, but nothing major.
The oak base is also very solid and has been sensitively cleaned. The back of the base is missing a fillet strip of wood that you can see absent, in the 3rd last photo above. We have some, not all, of the wooden frame (see locating holes in the base corners) that once housed a glass display cover. Obviously the glass has long since gone.
A couple of the photos above show the size/scale as they show a standard Coke can and a Stuart 10H steam engine.
Base is 39" x 19", 15.75" flywheel, approx 4.5" stroke, 3.5" diameter cylinder end cover, 5.5" to 6" long outer brass cylinder cladding, and the engine is 17" tall including the base.
Needs a good home. Would also look stunning in a period property.
