Vintage Large Marine / Launch single cylinder vertical live steam engine for sale. Looks to be extremely well made, with wonderful 1/2" thick wooden cladding.
Has a lubrication system, crank driven water pump, reversing, counter weighted flywheel, industrial crank bearings and drain cocks etc.
Lovely general patina, without looking flat.
Runs very well on air at approx 30 psi, should run even better on steam. Reversing also works well, but needs slightly finer selection on the adjusting handle.
Metal base is 8" square, wooden base is 8.75" x 9.25".
7.5" flywheel, counterbalanced.
3" stroke and cylinder bore not known but to cap is 3.16" diameter.
Engine is 22.75" tall, with the wooden base adding another 2".
Water pump has a 7/8" stroke driven via an eccentric off the crank. 15" front to back at max pump stroke, not including the wood lip at the front.
A real treat of an engine and an impressive size, but still liftable.
The first photo above shows it beside a Stuart No 1 and a much smaller Stuart 10V.
