Exhibition standard 5" GWR Collett 2-6-2 small Prairie for sale. Tank locomotive built by the revered excellent engineer John Anyon of Minster, Isle Of Sheppey. Fantastic detail, built and painted to a very high standard indeed.
Almost certainly built from works drawings, GWR Collett small Prarie. 1562 was built in 1928 and the Shirt Button livery was indicitive of engines 1934-1942.
The photos I have taken do not do this beautiful engine justice. Looks every bit as good and better up close. Displayed in pride of place for the last 16years. Looks to have been fired, but perhaps once or twice.
Fitted with a copper superheated boiler with Belpaire firebox, single spring-type safety valve, swivelling regulator, pressure and water gauges, blower, whistle and injector valves, cab fittings include draincock and damper door levers, lever and quadrant-operated reverse gear and hand brake, chassis fittings include twin outside cylinders with Stephenson link gear, twin injectors, steam brakes, full riveting detailing, 3 lamps and brackets and front and rear vacuum horses, finished in Great Western pre-war livery with small GWR emblem on the tank sides, 110" x 53" (255mm x 1360mm).
The details including sand boxes, oilers, riviting, etc is all stunning. A model that would not be out of place in a first rate steam collection.
Display board and perspex cover could be included in the sale, please do ask. There is also a very sturdy chocolate colour stand on wheels. Wood base is 45" x 13.25", perspex top is 44" x 21" tall and 12" deep. Trolley base is 47" x 31.5" tall ad 15" deep.
Price: £ 9,975. Display stand/case also available to purchase. (No additional VAT to add)
