Wonderful opportunity to acquire this stunning Burrell Showmans Golden Dragon live steam traction engine for sale. With rear crane attachment. I have know about this Burrell for a few years and can now offer it for sale. It is a very impressive engine. Copper boiler and has never been steamed.
Stunning detail and nice to own such a fine model of an original Burrell Showmans with important and significant history.
Some history of the full size engine:
Supplied to Anderton & Rowland, the well-known West Country showmen, on 13th May 1921 at a cost of £3500. The engine was given a Plymouth registration and named by the firm's manager of the day, Mr.George De Vey Snr, as Earl Beatty. On completion at the Burrell works in Thetford the engine was steamed direct to Messrs Orton & Spooner at Burton-On-Trent, Staffs and was set to test run the new Scenic Railway that the firm had just purchased. The engine worked until 1940. The engine was eventually sold by John Weaver of Cinderford, Gloucestersghire to Jack Wharton of Witney.
Last 3 images above show the full size engine.
